One winter while in Juneau on a cold weekend I headed out to the glacier and joined the many of others who were walking across Mendenhall Lake towards the glacier

This is an approach I like to take to fully appreciate locations like this and make my connection to the location even greater than just taking pictures

As we approached them we had the open oceans waters which provided a backdrop of distance in this image under overcast skies on this afternoon

At the park some of the tennis courts were resurfaced earlier in the fall from the traditional green courts which are common in most parks

The end result is not only capturing a soft look of the mossy background at this waterfall but also an interesting feel to the water stream contrasting with the green in this image

For this image it was luck. I was walking along the Embarcadero when I noticed the setting sun starting to go behind Coit Tower. Up ahead I then spotted the shadow of this scene and positioned myself so the rays of the sun were coming through the arches of the tower on Telegraph Hill.
