At reflux , the acidic gastric contents return to the esophagus where it can cause inflammation and pain. In most cases there is a feeling of burning on the chest, which rises to the mouth and acidic feeling in the mouth (acid regurgitation). Symptoms of reflux usually disappear within 2 3 days.
