In Nigeria, there is less than one doctor for every 2,000 people, so Remis leg had already become severely infected by the time he was diagnosed with leprosy. The only option was to amputate his leg to save his life. The Leprosy Mission's Chanchaga Workshop is a nine hour bus trip from Remis home, but his mum, Yemaya, believed it offered her son a glimmer of hope.
