L859 Retail 19th-century Italian distressed gold turned-woodPair of 18th century Italian hand carved gold leaf angels mounted on amethyst and calcite in matrix. The hand carved angels were once part of a heavenly, angelic depiction in a historic church in Tuscany. The angels are placed onto the amethyst and calcite in matrix which is a very rare mineral combination and formation. The calcite formation coordinates with the gesso underlay of the angels. The pair of angels are holding heart shaped baroque pearls.
