The overstitching has been done by women in surrounding villages then the pieces are brought back to Chiang Mai to be finished. The backing is made from hand batiked hemp by Hmong people of Laos. The symbols reflect their beliefs. They see themselves as people of the forest and the organic nature of the fabric reflects this. These
