She tended to create her clothing out of a hodge podge of new and old materials. In the beginning she favored things like feathers and fringe but her aesthetic became more 'grown up' and glamorous as her career progressed. She was an avid thrifter and you can see the influence of earlier decades in her work. I love the fabric choice for this dress.
